Aspray Transport Look To Vitronic
Vitronic has supplied parcel recognition camera systems for warehousing and logistics for nearly ten years and has become one of the most reputable companies in the industry. So when Aspray Transport needed to upgrade its parcel sorting process in its busy warehouse, it looked no further.
The requirements were for an automated system, which would vastly improve the speed, efficiency and productivity of the warehouse. Vitronic specialises in providing state-of-the-art parcel recognition technology, which utilises sophisticated cameras to read the labels on packages. So it proceeded to deliver a product that matched Aspray Transport’s high expectations!
The system installed uses three cameras and is five sided. This means it can read a barcode anywhere on the front, back, top or sides of the parcel, with the code being in any orientation on these faces. This improves business efficiency and decreases manual intervention, meaning problems are cut to a minimum. It also handles an incredible 5,000 parcels per hour at a sorter speed of 2.2 metres per second, speeding up the parcel sorting process and fulfilling Aspray Transport’s requirements.
One of the other main features of the new Vitronic parcel sorting system is the facility for video coding. If a barcode is badly damaged or marked, then a photographic image of it is sent to a terminal where the operator can enter it manually. As the image appears at the video coding terminal in 300 milliseconds, it can still be input in time for the sorter to process the parcel and send it to its correct destination.
