Safety Solution Is A European First
Caljan Rite-Hite has made one of its first European installations of a Dok-GuardianTM safety barrier at Unipart Logistics. This is a significant milestone for the supplier of advanced loading and unloading equipment, which is driving forth its safety message in 2005.
Unipart Logistics provides warehousing, distribution, supply chain management and consultancy services. The installation of the Dok-Guardian will prevent forklift trucks and pedestrians from falling off loading docks. In the event that the Dok-Guardian is opened when there is no vehicle present at the dock, an audible alarm will sound and warning lights will flash. The same thing will happen in the event of vehicles moving too far away from the bumper face during the loading/unloading operation.
Unipart Logistics also invested in some dock levellers - telescopic lip levellers that give exceptional flexibility with regard to the positioning of the lip on the vehicle bed. This is usually required when the vehicles that are being loaded/unloaded are too full, as a conventional swing lip leveller would not have enough room to extend.
